In 1989, Slash had realized that that incentive motivation of Guns N 'Roses to become "the most dangerous band on the planet" was no more. "The need to survive was no longer a motivation," he said. The monotony of the scene of Hollywood 'forced' Slash to flee higher up on heroin, for exactly two years - until 1991. "I was looking for an obscure location," he confided.

The effects for him, 'harmful' fame, would be felt more and more. "I had no aspirations at all materials. I never cared about possessions. Suddenly, however, everyone around me began to worry too much about it, "said Slash.

By then, the group members were moving away, both by exhaustion of touring as eccentric by the intensification of differences about the course. "The only messages I received them were officially through the leadership in the person of Doug Goldstein, who always spoke with Axl, Slash detailed.

The guitar notes that would have to compose and arouse the interest of Axl to attract it if everyone wanted to be a band again. But on occasion, especially Slash and Izzy were very involved with drugs. But with the involvement of Axl and Slash, the guitarist-base was rescued by his father and has since been 'clean' - has been to date.

According to the guitarist, yet the band have managed to come together to write the songs of the album's successor GN 'R Lies, released on November 29, 1989 with the acoustic recordings plus the EP "Live! Like a Suicide. "We were managing to compose something, creating some riffs here and some pieces of music there. When we were working, we were concentrating, but could never complete any of our ideas without all the band together, "describes Slash.

As explained by the guitarist at that point everyone went back to being focused, but they lacked skill in relation to work as a team - even for no more live and walk always together, as in the beginning of the group, when everyone interdepend for itself survival. "There was a will, but lacked discipline," summarizes Slash.

The excesses with alcohol by Slash and Duff Izzy bothered at that moment. "I am sure that Axl had his reasons for doing things his way too," admits guitarist-ground. "But there was no dialogue on all these issues and, as a consequence, there were serious misunderstandings," mused Slash. "Instead of drawing up a new method to solve our problems, all problems were becoming a big snowball," he added. That so, as the reader will come to the end, would cause the end of the band as the world has known.

Slash explains that the group had become "dispersed" and the momentum was gone. "It was nobody's fault, we did the best we could," exempted. "We were a band out of control with some shred of integrity that had lost the ability to channel it properly. Simply does not speak the same language, "summed up the guitar. By the way, this explanation is more appropriate than some merely say that Axl deliberately 'over' with the band. "All we are missing", accuses Slash, for those who lacked communication between the members.

The guitarist describes the scene of rock from Chicago - where he lived next to the moment Duff - was very different from Los Angeles. "It was 1990 and the place revolved around the music style of industrial metal bands like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails, abbreviated. How many years later became evident, Axl would capture these influences to try to produce the 'new sound' of GN'R - after the departure of all "original", would only occur in November 2008 the launch of the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" .

"The atmosphere between us was too dark and did not lead to true creativity," he said Slash, on the period of composition that preceded the album "Illusions". The guitarist said that Axl had attacks of bankruptcies, which displeased the Izzy. Still Slash admits failure at the time: "Maybe if we had heard what he wanted to do and been a little more cooperative Axl had not entered a tailspin that way," he reflects.

Axl Slash describes as having a "bitter air" apparently coming from a depressed state. But he stressed that the guitarist was more concerned with Steven at the time. "He walked abusing cocaine and other performance paid the duck," clarified the classmate from school. "I realized that the case of Steven became increasingly hopeless," outlined Slash.

The state of tension within the group was great. "The Guns was a band that could break any second," he said Slash. Guitarist himself in the book that highlights the creative level of GN'R fell dramatically. "To Use Your Illusions I and II, Guns wrote songs in a way: The band began with an idea that any of us could have had, and then all worked together," broke in pieces the guitarist. For Slash, in 1990 the group had lost the inspiration to produce collective. And for years only to get dragged to the very end.

"Axl and I had an interesting kind of relationship of love and hate, always had," stated Slash. The modus operandi of Guns N 'Roses broke down and did not come back with Axl more and more distant from other members, also would not fraternize the same way as before. "The trend of Axl to communicate through the leadership continued when he returned to Chicago (to Los Angeles) until my last days in the band," Slash explained.

Even the relationship with Izzy was not right for the guitar-solo. Slash left furious when passing by the apartment of Mr and leave traces of blood when injected drugs before going to the funeral of his grandmother, who died and left him emotionally upset. "(Izzy) I had every reason to be possessed," he said Slash. "Today, analyzing these events, I realize how I was insane and destructive, but at that time did not realize it," said Fred.

Guitarist shows that there were some shows scheduled to open for the Rolling Stones Guns may have been killed by 'inertia'. But at that moment Slash had a peak of drug use, forcing his mother to guide you to call David Bowie - An old acquaintance of hers - to receive advice from experienced musician. The situation worsened when Axl involved with colleagues Steven and Slash the use of heroin. "There are too many of us dancing with" Mr. Brownstone ', "said the singer during the first show of opening the Stones.

Still Axl agreed achieve the other shows, which were a glimmer of happiness to the creation of Californians. "The Stones attended in the four nights, as I knew, because we did think of themselves in the beginning of his career, lauded Slash. However, the guitarist and drummer of the band were, according to the Slash, 'rock bottom'. "Axl was right to impose its conditions. That kind of existence simply could not work out the level where we were. When you are a prisoner of heroin, life does not revolve more around the music. I had forgotten that, "he regrets.

Slash mentions that because of the excitement of singing with the Stones, Adler felt motivated to want to recover from addiction to drugs. Even the guitarist was advised to move away from the hype of the band in Los Angeles and become a golf resort in Arizona to improve. However, there was only isolation, because Slash would coca and heroin sufficient for some days.

The result could not be another, eventually causing an uproar by punching a mirror in the quest for achieving 'animals' that dogged him, in pure hallucination. Slash just stepping on broken and bleeding, ran naked through the establishment of recreation, causing a real stir. The episode nearly cost one prison to the guitarist, who returned to California.

Once again, Slash has an "intervention" by a 'committee' formed by several people involved with GN'R. However, the guitarist said he was angry at the presence of Adler in the same group, because he was also extremely flawed. "It was ridiculous that Steven was part of the committee, because he needed rehabilitation as much as I, if not more. I stared at him with a single thought: hypocritical, "fired Slash. What happened was an unsuccessful stay at a clinic in Tucson.

Throughout the book Slash reiterates that the fragmentation of the friendship of the members of Guns brought about the end of the group as everyone knew. "When we started the band, our future depended on our union strong and spontaneous. Our attitude has generated a loyal camaraderie between us that is very rare to see there. Success finally break this bond by giving us what we wanted and much of what we did not need - all at once, "mused the guitarist. "The feeling was that we had forgotten how fun being outside us," he said. Phrases such as these summarize much of the reason for the termination of GN'R.

The history of the band would still like Slash facts heroin substitute for alcohol. He is intimately united with bassist Duff to compose, but continued to worry about Adler. "Our Dear Steven had become a compulsive drug addict and was in a state of complete denial. He never matured beyond those fantasies of first-degree around the rock and roll, even when the risk of losing them was well in front of him, "analyzes Slash.

Guitarist ensures that the band members tried to help the drummer to leave the drugs. "We did what we could to try to put it back on track, but could not say no to Steven," he explains. Izzy, Slash and Steven had serious problems with cocaine and heroin, but the difference is that the first two have recovered. Followed hospitalizations drummer did not work. Steven escaped from rehab 22 times, "enumerated Slash, to be aware of the effort made.

Except for the drummer, Guns N 'Roses reunited for a brief moment, enough to create new songs and work songs that would exist for the Illusions. "In those moments, the old energy back and everything was exciting, electric," recalls Slash. Guitarist lists as almost all the songs on the 1991 double album were worked, a real feast for the Gunners.

At that moment there was a glimmer of union of the band members. "It became clear that once booked a minute and let all the bullshit aside, we meet without hostility, covering the vibration, the chemistry of the band," Slash described in a tone of self-criticism as well. Is the recording of "Illusions" that would strengthen the differences between hopeless after the band. Guitarist shows dissatisfaction with the conduct of Axl in the whole process.
